Russia Successfully Tests Stealth Warplane.
Bloomberg News (1/29, Pronina) reports, "Russia successfully tested its so- called fifth-generation stealth warplane, 13 years after the first flight by its U.S. rival, Lockheed Martin Corp.'s F-22 Raptor, the maker of the fighter jet said." OAO Sukhoi Aviation Holding spokesperson Olga Kayukova said, "The entire test program planned for the first flight was successfully completed." Reuters (1/29) notes the first test was originally scheduled for last year. According to Russia Today (1/29), "Little is known about the fifth-generation fighter aircraft, and even its appearance is still classified information. But to fit into fifth-generation requirements, the plane must have high maneuverability, supersonic cruise speed, high weapons payload and elements of stealth technology."
